Meet the Staff
Erik Salomon
Erik is the founder of Calico Guitarworks and the principal behind the E-Commerce website GuitarRepairParts.com. He received his bachelor of music degree (BM) from Five Towns College in May of 2010. The Valedictorian of his graduating class, he also received the ‘Audio Recording Technology Award’ at commencement.
While a student, Erik pursued an interest in musical instrument repair through independent study. After landing an apprenticeship at a local shop, he was soon repairing instruments for his classmates and professors. By the time of graduation, Erik was overseeing a busy in-store repair shop for the country’s largest music retailer. Before leaving in 2016 to pursue his own business, he served as an “area specialist” for the corporation. In this capacity, he assisted with the hiring and training of new technicians within the company.
As a musician, Erik has experience ranging from open-mic nights to multi-state tours. He has performed with original rock bands, award-wining collegiate ensembles, bar and wedding bands, as well as solo-acoustic shows. Erik has also recorded three albums of original music. These days, his interests are focused around running, rock-climbing, and travel. He lives with his wife and their pet cats.
Andrew
Andrew graduated from Five Towns College in 2011 with a degree in Music Education. A member of the Phi Sigma Eta Honor Society, he received the Provost’s Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement upon graduation.
Andrew began apprenticing under Erik Salomon in 2014. As Calico Guitarworks came to fruition, he was the obvious first hire. Andrew shares the values of integrity and craftsmanship that the business is known for. Reserved and exceptionally capable, he is a trusted confidant and has been an integral part of the business almost since inception. His chief responsibilities in shop are setups and fretwork.
In addition to his work as a repairman, Andrew is also a professional solo guitarist/vocalist for weddings and special events. He lives in Ronkonkoma with his wife, two children, and their dogs.
